An X3 Nextar GPS navigation system normally costs $249.99 at Kohl’s department store. It fits in your pocket, it has an MP3 player, displays photos as well as maps and an electronic voice to guide its owner.
When doors at Kohl’s in Bayshore Town Center in Glendale opened at 4 a.m. on Friday, the device was marked down to $99.99. If that wasn’t enough, Kohl’s offered an additional $20 rebate coupon (which shoppers need to mail in), bringing the cost to $79.99.
“That’s been a hot item,” said store clerk Karen Ogier.
Amid other prominently displayed bargains — half-priced video cameras and $39.99 digital photo frames — the department store was packed. Kohl’s served coffee for the customers who queued outside in the pre-4 a.m. chill waiting for the doors to open.
