Verizon
Droid
Many Verizon Wireless stores across the country will be opening early on November 6th to give eager customers first dibs on the Motorola Droid. The wireless carrier, which has over 2000 retail locations, will be opening stores as early as 7 am. Customers, however, are advised to check their local store’s opening time beforehand due to some of Verizon’s retail locations not being able to open early.
Along with giving customers the opportunity to be early adopters of the Droid, Verizon has all sorts of fanfare planned for the phone’s launch event. In
New York, Verizon will be creating an interactive experience called “Droid Does Times Square.” Customers participating in the experience will be able to control the NASDAQ and Reuters digital billboards by voice command. For customers who walk into any of its retail stores across the county, Verizon is also planning extensive demonstrations that show off the Droid’s features.
The Motorola Droid is Verizon’s first Android 2.0 smartphone. Among the Driod’s features are:
- Fast data access speeds via Verizon’s 3G network or WiFi.
- Integration with social networking applications such as Facebook.
- A multi protocol capable email client.
- A 5 megapixel camera with an auto-focus lens and LED flash.
The Motorola Droid will be available on or after November 6th for $199 and a two year contract exclusively at Verizon Wireless stores or online at the carrier’s website, BlackFriday
